The Spider’s Web (Part XI)

It was a man and his face appeared to be covered by a mask. He removed something out of his pant pocket. The road light that entered through the window bounced off the shining blade. He swung his hand up and the lights went on, instantly. Radha had slipped to the wall near the bed to switch on the lights, simultaneously Kartik and Keshav entered the room. The intruder was 6 feet tall and his face was covered with a mask. Startled, the man looked at the bed and flung the bedsheet off it. Instead of Rita, pillows were neatly arranged on it. Before the 2 men could do anything, he jumped over the bed to the other side and caught Radha in a stranglehold, the knife very near her skin.

“One step here and I’ll slice her throat,” he uttered in a hoarse voice. Then, he sidled toward the door as the other two shifted slowly inside the room. “Take it easy, Mister,” Kartik spoke up. “She’s not your sister-in-law.

The man stopped dead in his tracks. Seeing his grip slackening on her neck, Radha nudged him hard on his midriff simultaneously pushing away the knife held hand. The man recovered from the shock, but, before he could turn to run away, 4 constables rushed in with rifles trained on him. When the mask was ripped out of his face, it uncovered the face of a fallen man – Fakar Singh!
