Desire

A human being’s brain is filled with thoughts. The personality of the human develops depending on how the thoughts materialize. Scientists and technologists develop and discover new things through their thinking capacity.

Similarly, the white-skinned great Vaishali Madam, Our Lady of Intolerance, finds so many thoughts leading to several new and lower than lowest crimes to use them on us. But, there are writers and poets, who use their thoughts positively.

One such poet was Makhanlal Chaturvedi. His Hindi poem A Flower’s Desire is excellent. Mom and I appreciate it very much. Both of us have been brought up in a patriotic environment. Thus, it touched our hearts. We remembered this poem today and so I am sharing it here:

I would not like to be offered to any deity.

I would not like to decorate any dancer’s hair.

I would not like to decorate any king’s throne.

I would not like to be offered on the dead body.

O Gardener, spread me on the path, where soldiers, who protect the nation, tread.

I would like to be crushed under their feet.

I wonder if Our Lady of Intolerance will even understand this poem.
