Common Winter Complaints (Part IX)

Continuing with A Journalist Reveals’ series on Common Winter Complaints, today, we are sharing a post on the diet to avoid bronchitis. This is a sequel to the article on some supplements to reduce the risk of bronchitis. Inputs: Dr. Vinod Kumar Tiwari, head of Research and Development, Planer Herbs Lifesciences.

Diet to Avoid Bronchitis:

Antioxidants are very important nutrients available in fruits and veggies. They boost up our ability to defend ourselves against infections and disease. Studies reveal that increased consumption of fruits and vegetables can reduce the incidence of bronchitis. It was also revealed that participants consuming less anti-oxidant-rich foods were prone to not only chronic bronchitis but also other respiratory issues like asthma and wheezing. Incorporating colorful fruits and veggies having anti-oxidants, like leafy greens, bell peppers, broccoli, citrus fruits, berries, cantaloupe, tomatoes, red grapes, sweet potatoes and winter squash in our diet can protect us from these health issues.

The following can also be added to our diet:

  • Ginger, Kali Mirchi (black pepper) and Pippli (long pepper).
  • Giloy Juice.
  • Hot Water.
  • Tomato Soup.
  • Garlic Powder and Trikatu.
  • Ginger Soup.
  • Mustard Oil Massage.

The above items have anti-inflammatory properties that provide relief in case of bronchitis.
