Ganeshotsav 2018 – Our Celebrations

Today, I will share the details of Ganeshotsav 2018 – Our Celebrations. This time Lord Ganesha’s vehicle was the elephant. This event is very auspicious.

Ganeshotsav 2018 – Our Celebrations:

This time, we made it a point to arrange some scenes from the life of Lord Ganesha at our altar.

First Scene – Shivanesha Ganapathy:

Lord Shiva gave a second life to Lord Ganesha by placing the elephant’s head with Sanjeevani Mantra Chanting. Thus, He becomes Lord Ganesha’s father. So, the first scene that we placed is Shivanesha Ganapathy.

Second Scene – 9 Forms of Ganapathy:

We have presented the coming of Lord Ganesh on an elephant in the form of a scene. Besides, we have made 9 soil or mud Ganeshas with only the trunk visible. Mud is auspicious, so we used it in all the 9 Ganapathys. The Ganeshas are made from:

  1. Pure mud.
  2. Mud with turmeric powder.
  3. Some Mud with durva grass.
  4. Mud with jaggery.
  5. The Mud with rock salt (lavana).
  6. Mud with cow dung.
  7. Neem leaves with mud.
  8. Mud with Calotropis leaves.
  9. Black sesame seeds and kusha grass with mud.

Third Scene – Rahu and Ketu:

The doshas related to Rahu and Ketu are resolved or warded off through the worship of Lord Ganesha.

A – Rahu:

So, we have placed a snake-pit with some snakes, depicting Rahu under a neem tree.

B – Ketu-Ganapathy:

The large snake behind the Ganapathy depicts Ketu and the Ganapathy is called Ketu-Ganapathy.

Fourth Scene – the Writing of Mahabharata:

Sage Vyasa requested Lord Ganesha to help him in writing the Mahabharata on the Meru Mountain. That scene is our fourth one. Lord Ganesha is clearing the mountain of dirt to make it smooth and easy to write on, with His trunk. He is also holding one of His tusks ready to begin writing on the mountain.

Fifth Scene- Rishabharoodha Ganapathy:

Goddess Parvathy and Lord Shiva are with a little Lord Ganesha sitting on Nandi.

We are planning the immersion of our Lord Ganesha on the seventh day, i.e. tomorrow. In the next post, we plan to share the details of immersion.
