Paul Cezanne once said, “Painting from nature is not copying the object, it is realizing one’s sensations.” Likewise, Vivek Vadkar’s paintings make you realize your sensations. You are transported to a different world. We found him on Linkedin and decided to interview him for A Journalist Reveals. Excerpts:

What are your educational qualifications?

I have completed ATD (Art Teacher Diploma) and BA.

What inspired you to take up art?

Nature has always been my inspiration.

Art is such an unpredictable profession. How did your parents react to your decision to take up that field?

That way I am lucky as my parents, especially my mother and even my sister supported me in my decision from the beginning.

Have you specialized in a particular genre of art? What is special about it?

I will not say that I have specialized or am an expert. But, realistic painting art form is my strength. The realistic art form is special for me as it is directly derived from the pure form of nature. There is nothing hypothetical in it. You can see the reality in the painting as it exists actually in its original form. It’s all about the game of emotions. Basically, the art is an interpretation of this beauty which we can’t put into words; we try to express it through our paintings. Art can’t be explained. It can only be felt by the heart, by the soul. This is what I can feel – each time I paint something, it’s a fresh experience for me.

Are you experimenting with this particular type of art? How?

Yes. I do experiment. In fact, my upcoming exhibition The Blend is an experiment in itself.

I am combining realistic forms with a touch of contemporary imagination. You are welcome to experience this fresh experiment in my upcoming exhibition.

What do colors mean to you?

Colors are medium of expression. Each color represents something. Each shade of color tries to put its impression on your mind. Without colors, there is nothing in this world and this is true for our paintings, as well. I will say that this beautiful world is created with all the shades of all the colors, which are totally blended with each other. You can’t separate them like the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh quotes “There is no Blue without Yellow and without Orange”.

What do you see 10 years hence?

10 years is just a number. Actually, I always start afresh when I wake up daily. I do not lock myself in the past… Also, I don’t deliberately look at the future. I think only present is in my hands. I can create a good future if I can create a good present.
