In India, we celebrate 2 national festivals – Independence Day and Republic Day. We recently had the 74th Independence Day. All were wondering how we could celebrate the same with the COVID19 pandemic going on. But, the festival was celebrated nationally following the protocols.
Several housing societies would celebrate the independence day during normal times with enthusiasm. But again, there was a question mark on the celebration at the local level as well. Near our building, flag-hoisting was done with fervor, following the protocols at 7 places.
We celebrated it at home as usual. This time again we had lighted Amar Jawan Jyoti. We offered a tribute first to the ex-IAF officer, who gave up his life to save the passengers and crew of the flight from Dubai, in the Kerala flight accident. Then, we saluted the COVID19 warriors and other national heroes, who are handling the current situation, very expertly.
These traditions should be handed over from the older generation to the newer ones, telling them the significance. Mom made me light the lamp as a tribute to the national heroes. The need of the hour is to increase the greenery the world over. So, planting trees should be part of the celebrations. Mom also made me participate in the Vanmahotsav, at a small scale at home.
I feel proud belonging to India and having Vidhyalakshmi Rao as my Mom. Jai Hind! Jai Bharat Mata!
