The Effects of Artificial Intelligence on Job Opportunities – An Analysis (Part 2)

In the second part of the article, we will explore the pros and cons of AI in terms of its impact on job opportunities. Let’s start with the good news first because technology is always created or developed to help us humans.

Pros of AI on Job Opportunities

History has shown us that technological advancements can lead to job displacement, but they also create new job opportunities. It is important to continue to innovate and develop new technologies while ensuring that workers are prepared for the jobs of the future.

By doing so, we can ensure that AI creates a more productive, efficient, and equitable workforce.

Automation of Repetitive Tasks

One of the most important advantages of Artificial Intelligence is that it can automate mundane and repetitive tasks. This means that workers can focus on more critical and creative tasks that require human intelligence.

For example, in the manufacturing industry, AI can be used to automate assembly lines, which can increase productivity and reduce errors. Workers can then focus on more complex tasks such as maintenance, troubleshooting and quality control.

According to a report by the World Economic Forum, by 2025, automation will create around 12 million new jobs globally, especially in industries such as healthcare, green energy and information technology.

Creation of New Job Opportunities

AI has the potential to create entirely new job opportunities that we cannot even imagine today. As AI becomes more advanced, new industries will emerge and the existing industries will be transformed.

For example, the rise of autonomous vehicles will create a demand for new job roles such as vehicle operators, maintenance personnel and software engineers.

According to a PwC research, AI could boost the global market by $15.7 trillion by 2030, adding millions of additional jobs.

Improvement in Healthcare

AI can be used to improve healthcare, leading to a surge in job opportunities. With the help of AI, healthcare providers can make more accurate diagnoses, identify potential health risks and develop personalized treatment plans. This means there will be a growing demand for healthcare specialists, such as doctors, medical technicians and nurses, with the knowledge of AI.

A study by Accenture estimates that by 2026, the deployment of AI in healthcare may save the American healthcare industry $150 billion annually.

Improvement in Education

AI can be used to improve education, which can lead to an increase in job opportunities. AI can personalize learning, create better teaching resources and provide real-time feedback to students. This means there will be a growing demand for educators, instructional designers and educational technologists.

The global market for AI in education is anticipated to reach $3.68 billion by 2023, expanding at a compound yearly growth rate (CAGR) of 47.0%, according to a report by MarketsandMarkets.

Improvement in Customer Service

AI can be used to improve customer service, leading to a surge in job opportunities in this sector. With the help of AI, companies can offer more personalized, improved and efficient customer service.

For example, chatbots can be used to handle routine queries, allowing customer service representatives to focus on more complex issues. This means there will be a growing demand for customer service representatives, customer experience managers and chatbot developers.

A report by Gartner predicted that by 2023, 40% of customer service inquiries will be handled by virtual customer assistants, which has already begun in several companies.
