Proteins are the building blocks of our body. Besides carbohydrates and fats, proteins are the most important macro-nutrients. Most people think that Whey is not for an average individual leading a sedentary life. But, this is a misconception. This part of the article reveals other myths surrounding protein consumption. This is Myths Surrounding Protein Consumption (Concluding Part).

  1. Myth:

Whey protein causes kidney damage.

Clarity of thought:

Research has it that whey protein supplements don’t harm the kidneys of healthy individuals. Only patients suffering from renal issues need to be careful because an excess of proteins can cause kidney failure in some cases.

  1. Myth:

Whey protein supplements contain steroids.

Clarity of thought:

Whey protein helps in bulking up and this assumption is far from reality. Whey protein contains essential amino acids. Any person, who follows a moderate or intense activity level, can consume whey protein to meet their daily protein requirement. Whey protein is derived from milk and is one of the superior sources of proteins. It gets absorbed by humans faster and can help rebuild mass as well as strength.

Of late, however, the perception is gradually beginning to change. Awareness is seeping in. But, this process needs to be faster. We need to forget the myths and accept the facts. The future predicts an increase in physical activity among Indians with the rise in health consciousness. Thus, the demand for protein supplements will also increase.
