Culinary Tips

1. Take 1 cup each of tuar dal, chana dal and rice, 1 ½ table spoons each of udad and moong dal and 6 red chillies. Roast for 1 minute in an already very hot kadai. Remove the mixture onto a plate till it cools down. Dry grind the contents coarsely till it looks like fine rava. This can be stored at home for times when guests come suddenly. During such situations, required amount of the rava can be taken and salt, asafoetida, curry leaves and ground coconut can be added to it to make a thick paste. Heat ample oil and fry small quantities of this to make pakoras.
2. If the available dosa batter is less for the people present at home, add some oats to it. Dosa made out of the batter now will not only be tasty but also healthy.
3. If thick tamarind pulp is added while making any chutney, the chutney will taste good.
