Oh, Boy! What have I done!

I wrote this poem after I completed my M.Sc. in Botany. During our degree course, we were supposed to cut plants and make slides and herbaria out of them. On that fateful day, we were standing in the line to apply for my degree certificate in the University Campus. I saw one wild plant there and habituated as I was I pulled at it. The plant was reluctant to be detached from its foundation and I got a large cut on my finger. While this was happening, I felt the protest of the plant. Yes, the plants have life and feelings too. I lost consciousness and Mom took me under a shaded tree for rest. She also found out that the application could be made later with a late fee. She took me back home and then to the doctor. I am sharing this poem here for the first time after completing it.
Someday sometime, I stop and ponder.
What am I doing? I do wonder.
I wasn’t made to do this stuff.
Now, I do find things getting pretty tough.
Basically, God had instilled in me a love for nature.
However, I never retained the same stature.
I stooped down low enough to harm,
The very existence I arose from.
I’d never been so unkind, had I?
What had made me so bad after all?
Did Satan tempt me with his elusive fruit?
Or was it something else but this route?
Did I mistake anywhere, by the way?
Or was it something that happened along the way?
I know not the reason,
But I do want to return.
From the hell of this existence.
But can I put up any resistance
Against the inevitable?
Only God’s answer is relevant and capable.
