About the author: Olivier Lafont is a versatile artiste who writes fiction, feature film screenplays and for newspaper and magazine publications, but also acts in feature films, TV ads for popular brands and is also a voice over artist in many languages. A French multi-linguist, Lafont has worked in some of India’s most acclaimed films like 3 Idiots, Guzaarish and two Hollywood films.
About the book: The novel ‘Warrior’ is a high octane, action-packed story that traverses all over India and beyond. The hero, Saam, is a demigod and a warrior who lives incognito in Mumbai. But he is forced to come out of his sanctuary, to pick up arms again and take to the road. His epic journey spans three days across an India, torn by unnatural catastrophes and even stranger lands. To bring back peace Saam must add fuel to his overwhelming hunger for war, but at what cost to himself? The book was shortlisted for the Tibor Jones South Asia prize.
My Take: We have handled Harry Potter’s wizard-craft and Da Vinci’s codes. Now let’s face head on the demigod Saam’s quest for the Pure Glass or the True Mirror, which spans different dimensions and worlds. Lafont’s writing creates real images in the mind and reflects his study of Indian and other countries’ mythology and spiritual writing, courtesy his father being a historian. Beyond that I would not say anything and leave the readers to explore the quantum mechanics of the novel. Happy reading! 😉
