Verses do not match the theme,
When I encounter such a day;
I find everything going wrong,
Then I keep my pen at bay.
Perhaps, I got up from the wrong side of bed,
I then think.
I forget the events of daily routine,
And often lose their serial link.
I was going to the office one working day,
I decided to wear a sari on that fateful day.
Pencil shoes go with a sari,
That’s my opinion on fashion you see!
In a hurry to catch my bus,
I slipped and fell.
Caught in a tiny hole, the shoe-heel broke
And then remained only the sole.
Limping all the way, I reached the office late,
I think it’s better to blame it on fate.
The boss was angry, as usual, at my absence
Word was left out that I am to report to his presence.
Expecting a good firing, I was nervous and fearful.
I had lost all my confidence to the extent of being tearful.
The moment I opened his cabin door after a slight knock;
He looked at me drawing all the wind out of me.
“Where were you,” he demanded.
“When I needed you most?”
I was too frightened and afraid,
Since I could think of no excuse.
Finding that I was in no position to answer,
He looked at me from above his specs and down his nose.
Then, he seriously said and assured me
That I was to lose my job!
“You are no longer with us as an officer.”
He smiled and said, “You are promoted to the post of Assistant Manager!”
