After Sri Krishna Janmashtami in Mussoorie, the queen of the hills, Lord Krishna’s Palanquin is taken in a procession on the subsequent Sunday. In Mussoorie, the procession of Lord Krishna’s Palanquin has been a tradition for the last 142 years. The palanquin used to be taken from the Sanatan Dharma Temple to the Mussoorie Jain Dharamshala. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, this year administrative permission was given for a symbolic palanquin procession of Lord Krishna.
The event is organized by Sanatan Dharma Mandir Committee. During the doli tour on Sunday, hundreds of people from Mussoorie and nearby villages come along to take the blessings of Lord Krishna.
During this festive occasion, a fair is organized, in which thousands of people including Mussoorie participate and take blessings of Lord Krishna. But due to the corona pandemic, this time the palanquin was taken out on a city tour for a short distance with simplicity, following the corona guidelines. The doli could only go up to the Ghantaghar, whereas previously, the doli would go up to Gandhi Chowk via the Mall Road.
