Beginning today, we will be posting some interesting information about some mental conditions that need to be addressed earlier on during the progression of the disease for overcoming them. In this endeavor, Eminent Psychiatrist Dr. Devendra Save helps us understand the conditions and ways to address them. The first article in this series is on Painful Feelings.
Painful Feelings
Khalil Gibran once said, “Many of us spend our whole lives running away from feeling with the mistaken belief that you cannot bear the pain. But, you have already borne the pain. What you have not done is that feel all that you are beyond the pain.”
Now, what are painful feelings? Commonly and constantly having overwhelming feelings like sadness, guilt, shame, fear or depression denotes emotional pain. But, help is here. We need not live with this pain.
Eminent Psychiatrist, Dr. Devendra Save says, “Acknowledge your feelings. Resistance to pain will only cause more suffering.”
Like the doctor says, acknowledging the emotions is the first step. The morbidity reduces the moment the first step is taken. The next step is to get help from an expert.
