The Case of the Missing Boyfriend

I wrote this story, The Case of the Missing Boyfriend, for a course I had taken in the 1990s. I updated it and am sharing the same here:

The Case of the Missing Boyfriend

“Hi, Nancy,” Radha Srinivasan received her American pen-friend Nancy Drummond happily at the airport.

“Ra..dha, is that how you pronounce your name?”

“You have all the time in the world to learn it, Nancy. Let’s go home.”

“We were going to get married this spring and he just disappeared,” Nancy was talking about her boyfriend Ned Edleton. “He was last seen in Bombay, somewhere in what’s the place, B-andra, that’s the place, I suppose.”

“We’ll meet my brother, first thing in the morning and ask him to help us find Ned. Now, you must rest off your jet-lag.”

“Ned is here, you say?” Kartik asked, thoughtfully. Radha and Nancy had gone to meet him the next morning.

“Anna, he was seen recently near about your jurisdiction area,” Radha told her brother.

“A man of his description was definitely picked up some days back on doubts of drug-peddling. But he seemed to be oddly demented. We sent him to a small private hospital but he ran away from there before the doctors could examine him!”

To be continued…
