The Case of the Missing Boyfriend (Part IV)

I wrote this story, The Case of the Missing Boyfriend (Part IV), for a course I had taken in the 1990s. I am sharing the same here:

The Case of the Missing Boyfriend (Part IV)

“Ned ran away from the hospital a couple of weeks ago. He could be anywhere in this city or left it. Where can we find him?” Radha sounded pessimistic.

“Didn’t you say you have to file a news this afternoon?” Nancy asked.

“Yes.”

“Can you share about Ned on your social media? And will your colleagues also do the same?”

“Brilliant idea. Come on let’s go to my office.”

Several people contacted Radha. Most of them were wild goose chases. Then suddenly, the next day, her phone buzzed.

“You wanted to know about the angrez whose photo is buzzing in the social media?” asked the male voice from the other end of the phone. Radha’s grip over her mobile tightened as she replied in the affirmative.

“What is there in it for me?”

“Nancy may pay you something. But who are you and where did you see the angrez?”

“I am a ward boy from the hospital where the police brought him.”

That answer disappointed her. This ward boy seemed to have the intention of taking them for a ride, like the others did, by telling them stuff they already knew.

“The angrez did not run away. He is still under Inspector Keshav’s protection.”

To be continued…
