Anantha Chaturdashi signifies the end of Ganeshotsav. It is the day for performing the Pooja of Lord. Ananta Padmanabha, which gives us infinite piety and happiness. This festival also signifies the birthday of my father-in-law. His name was Anantha Padmanabha Rao. He expired on the Triyodashi before Anantha Chaturdashi and we perform his Shraddha every year on that day.
Lord Ganesha departs to His home on this day. We consign the mud Ganapathi and the turmeric pyramids representing Haritalika Gauri and Ganesha, we made to water at home and that represents His journey back to His home. The vessel needs to be thoroughly cleansed with auspicious ash offered to Lord Shiva, Gangajal, cow’s urine, salt and tamarind before this ritual. When we do that, we add a few drops of Gangajal and invoke 7 auspicious rivers of India before the idol is immersed in the water.
