Mr. Mathur was satisfied by the matching of horoscopes and immediately called up Dev’s residence to give them the good news. But, before he could say anything more than introduce himself, Dev’s mother had a thunderbolt ready for him. The woman, who had previously insisted that Dev’s decision was final, said, “The horoscopes do not match because Radha’s star is Moolam. Moolam is the worst star in the constellation. Girls born in Moolam are a burden to the family they are born into and the family they are married into. She will be responsible for her father-in-law’s death.” With that she disconnected rudely!
Mr. Mathur did not know what she was talking about and put down the phone, sadness enveloping him as the dark clouds of night spread all over the sky, outside.
