We have been writing on the various ways Navaratri festival is celebrated in the different Indian States. Today let’s have the Rajasthani Navaratri. The celebration is very simple with no elaborate cultural manifestations. A Journalist Reveals contacted Tanu Pareek for more information on it.
How do you celebrate the festival?
In Rajasthan, Navaratri is more about religion than fun. People fast for 9 days of Navaratri and either on the 8th or 9th day 8 unmarried girls (symbol of 8 forms of Devi) are invited for lunch.
Now in some big cities like Jaipur, Udaipur, etc. some groups and clubs organize garba nights. However, that is not the cultural way of celebrating Navaratri and in smaller cities we do not see much of this type of celebration.
What are the food items you prepare during this festival?
We have any special type of food associated with the celebration.
