My maternal aunt was invited for a wedding of her tailoring class student. But, she was unwell and was wondering how she would go for the event. Since long her family was insisting that my aunt should be present for all the ceremonies. The girl had Mangal Dosha. Thus, her marriage was not being fixed. My maternal aunt’s husband had told them she had marriage in her fate only after 35 years of age. Thus, he also told them to let her study further instead of wasting time. Since what uncle had predicted had happened in 2-3 other places, they let this girl study not only post-grad, but also MBA and Law.
After doing academic courses, she had learnt tailoring, cooking, handicrafts, dancing and holistic healing from my aunt. She became so famous that a Mangalik groom and his family approached them in her 35th year and her marriage was fixed. They were well off financially as well. Thus, they had planned to celebrate the marriage on a grand scale.
However, they say man proposes and God disposes. Just 15 days before the wedding date, the groom’s grandfather fell ill in their village. The village is very backward and they lived near their fields. The old man was the person, who had insisted on watching his grandson’s marriage. When the old man fell sick, the doctors there told them not to exert him, since he had touched his nineties.
They decided to celebrate the wedding in that village on a small scale. They began with the engagement 15 days before the wedding. The groom’s family took the bride and her family together with them for this event. There are no beauty salons at that place. The bride just managed a facial and left for the village.
The question arose. How could she get ready for the marriage? At that time, the old man’s youngest sister, who was in her 70s and was looking very beautiful, took up the task of beautifying the bride.
Thus her schedule was as follows:
- There are 3 cows in their home. Thus, there is no dearth of cow’s milk. Daily the bride was given a playing marble-sized chyawanprash lehiyam. This was given with turmeric milk sprinkled with pepper on it.
