Sigmand Freud once said, “Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive and will come forth later in uglier ways.” Unexpressed Emotions is the topic for today and Eminent Psychiatrist Dr. Devendra Save explains the phenomenon and how to solve the problem on our own, in this post.
Unexpressed Emotions
Dr. Save says, “Many of us learn during childhood to ignore or avoid overwhelming experiences and emotion. What we don’t realize is that this doesn’t make things better at all. In fact, the more we put off dealing or even acknowledging that something is wrong, the worse it becomes. Mental health experts refer to this as emotional avoidance. If we are going to consciously choose to not express the things we feel, we are enrolling ourselves into chaos down the road and less immediate resolution. We must allow ourselves the acceptance of not only the cause of our emotion but the feeling each emotion brings.”
