From today, we begin an 8-part short story, which is a murder mystery. The title is – Noise is Good. Do have a look and share your feedback.
Part 1
Pooja Tyagarajan was a double postgraduate, living with her parents. Her parents always argued with each other. Sometimes her father would pull her also into the fray. That is why, she came out of their flat for some fresh air, right then. Though she was well past marriageable age according to Indian standards, she felt freedom running in her veins. But, her neighbors had a problem with her not being married. And her not having a brother… blah blah blah…
They lived in a building of self-contained double bedroom flats. Pooja’s family lived on the ground floor. The only other flat on their floor was occupied by the senior couple Vageshwari and Pramesh with their 2 children. Vageshwari had failed her eighth grade and Pramesh had failed his fourth standard finals. Both earned their living through petty jobs like fall-bidding and assisting estate agents.
But, what was that? Pooja could perceive a couple of legs floating in the air, through the slightly ajar window of the neighbors’ home. When she pushed the window further in, she saw… She saw the woman, living in the house, hanging from the ceiling fan of the master bedroom! She appeared dead.
