From today, we are beginning the story of Srinivasa Kalyanam or the story of Lord Venkateshwara or Lord Balaji of Thirupati.
Srinivasa Kalyanam
Let’s start with the location of the story and the current temple – the 7 Hills of Tirumala-Thirupati.
The 7 Hills of Tirupati or Saptagiri are Venkatadri, Narayanadri, Vrushabhadri, Anjanadri, Garudadri, Neeladri and Seshadri.
The main temple of Tirupati is situated on Venkatadri, the most important of the 7 hills.
Folklore of Thirupati says that these 7 hills represent the 7 heads of Adisesha (the divine snake, on which Lord Vishnu rests), making Tirumala one of the holiest places in India. Thirupati is also called Kaliyuga Vaikuntha.
