Common people say that the flu shots do not protect them from the common cold. But, these shots work on the flu virus, which is an organism distinct from the cold virus. The people also do not find any difference between the 2 ailments because the symptoms are similar. However, the difference between them is that in flu is a far more severe infection that is accompanied by fever, headaches, muscle aches and severe cough. Though the common cold is contagious, some people are immune to it or suffer mild symptoms.
