Shani Amavasya (Part III)

Astrologers suggest wearing of blue sapphire in gold, silver, copper, brass, iron or ashtadhatu ring when people have Shani Doshas. The ring has to be washed in cow’s urine and then in water. It is again washed in milk and then in water. It is placed on a steel plate and offered blue flowers, cloves and sandalwood powder. Shani Mantra, Shani Stotra and Shani Beejakshari are chanted before it is worn in the muhurta as told by the astrologer. They will also inform us in which finger the ring is to be worn. There are hard and fast rules on wearing sapphire with other stones. On that day, Shani Bhajans and Keertans are to be sung and people even stay awake throughout the night.
