I wrote this story, The Amnesiac! (Part IV), in the 1990s for an educational course, I was taking then. Here’s the updated story.

The Amnesiac! (Part IV)

Radha added for the benefit of Asha, “The True Story got involved when the resort owner, a very good friend of Mr. Iyer, asked our editor to send a reporter. Because of the lackadaisical attitude of the police department, he was on the verge of losing his business.”

“Ma’am, only time will tell how lackadaisical the police department is. How would you like to investigate this story incognito and in partnership with a ‘lackadaisical’ member of the police department?”

“Who?”

“Yours truly.”

“You?”

“Yes, me.”

“And pray how will we be going incognito?”

“As husband and wife, to attract the least attention in our direction.”

“Oh, no. I am out of it. I prefer to go with Asha, in that case.”

“Radha,” Asha said thoughtfully. “For once he is right. 2 single girls would attract a lot of attention. But nobody would bother a honeymooning couple. Besides, having a police officer around would beef up your security. And I’ll always be just a phone call away.”

“If you say so…”
