The Spider’s Web (Part IX)

It was Kartik’s plan to get Rita out of the influence of her parents and slowly bring up the topic of the murder; then, record the entire dialogue on a digital voice recorder. But, fate had something else in store for them.
As planned, Radha called Rita and told her to come to her friend’s place. She added, “I need your help. Please hurry up and don’t let my brother or Bhabhi know about this,” Radha conjured up all her acting skills to sound desperate.
A couple of hours later, Rita did not turn up, even though the distance was only 15 minutes. Frantic calls to Rita’s cell went unanswered. Then, she called home. Again, nobody answered. Then, she called Kartik.
“Anna, she never came,” Radha was disappointed.
“She can’t.”
“Why?”
“Rita met with an accident on the way!”
