Apple Pakoras

I was told by Harpreeti, PR of Washington Apples, before she send the box of apples to make sure that I write which apple we liked best. The problem is one is better than the other. How can we pick and choose from this finest collection of apples? 🙁


Red Delicious apple variety from the Washington Apples Collection – ½.

Gram flour (besan) – 2 tablespoons.

Rice flour – 1 ½ tablespoons.

All purpose flour (maida) – 1 tablespoon.

Ajwain – ¼ teaspoon,

Dry ginger powder – ¼ teaspoon.

Oil to fry.

Chilli powder – to taste.

Salt – to taste.

Method: Slice the apple into round pieces. In a bowl, take besan, rice flour, maida, salt, chilli powder, ajwain and dry ginger powder. Mix well. Add enough water to make a suitable batter for pakoras. In a kadhai, take enough oil to fry. Dip each slice of apple in the batter and fry in oil. When done, remove from the oil and serve hot.

Serves: 3.
