The Amnesiac! (Part VII)

I wrote this story, The Amnesiac! (Part VII), in the 1990s for an educational course, I was taking then. Here’s the updated story.

The Amnesiac! (Part VII)

Radha ran to the balcony near her room overlooking the Sethi estate. The scream petered out into the sound of a large object starting to burn. There was light in the room directly in front of her. But before she could understand what was happening a uniformed guard from the bungalow saw her and pulled the drapes to close the window. By then, Keshav had come out of their room and reached her. The others on their floor peeped out of their doors, asking each other what had happened.

Radha told Keshav about what she had seen and heard. Keshav just looked at her thoughtfully for a minute. They walked to their room without uttering a word.

An hour later they emerged out of their room, wearing black. They stepped out of the compound of the resort stealthily and made a reconnoitering tour of the Sethi Estate on the 3 sides other than the one adjacent to the resort.

A wire fence, obviously electrically charged, bordered the compound. Somehow, they needed to get in to find out what was happening inside.

While moving along the woods behind the mansion, Keshav found a dead pigeon. He was about to throw it away when he got an idea. Since he had gestured silence, Radha watched him tie its lifeless legs with a small but heavy stone. Then, like a shot-putter, he took an aim and threw it toward the fence. As it hit the fence with a loud explosion, he pulled her down with him!
