The Hospital That Refused to Treat – Chapter 40
Chapter 40: Follow the Van
“Where?” Joseph asked.
Ganpat’s voice came in a whisper.
“An old warehouse near the eastern highway. One of the drivers told me.”
“Did you tell anyone you were asking?”
“No.”
“Good. Now stop.”
Ganpat ignored him.
“The Silver Care van leaves the hospital after midnight. Not every night. Maybe twice a week.”
“Ganpat—”
The call ended.
Joseph stared at the phone.
“I don’t like this.”
“Neither do I,” Shalini said.
Prakash was already on his feet.
“We have the location.”
Joseph shook his head. “And that’s exactly why we shouldn’t rush there.”
That evening, they drove past the address in Prakash’s car.

No stopping. No getting out.
Just a look.
The warehouse stood behind a high metal fence. No signboard identified it. The windows were dark.

“Looks abandoned,” Shalini said.
Then headlights appeared behind them.
A white van turned into the lane.
“Silver Care,” Prakash whispered.
Joseph leaned forward.
“Keep driving.”
Prakash slowed just enough for the van to pass.
They watched it stop outside the warehouse.
The gate opened immediately.
No horn.
No security check.
Someone had been expecting it.
“Drive around the block,” Joseph said.
When they returned five minutes later, the gate was closed.
The van had disappeared inside.
Then Shalini noticed something.
“Joseph.”
Across the road stood the dark blue sedan.
The same kind they had seen near the café.
“Don’t look at it,” Joseph said sharply.
Too late.
The sedan’s headlights came on.
“Prakash, drive.”
Prakash accelerated.
The sedan followed.
One turn.
Then another.
Still behind them.
“This isn’t coincidence,” Shalini said.
Prakash entered a busy market road and moved between buses and auto-rickshaws.
The sedan remained close.
“Take the next left,” Joseph said.
Prakash turned sharply.
A truck blocked part of the road.
The sedan was trapped behind it.
“Go!”
Prakash accelerated again.
Minutes later, the sedan was gone.
Nobody spoke until they reached Joseph’s building.
Then Shalini’s phone buzzed.
An unknown number.
A photograph had arrived.
It showed Prakash’s car outside the warehouse.
Below it were four words.
