The day was overcast when she reached the sets at Kamal Amrohi studios. The set designer, who had constructed the sets, was an upwardly mobile person. The sets themselves were fascinating replicas of the real thing. Only keen observation on her part would let her distinguish between fakes and the genuine structures.
After exchanging pleasantries with Syed, she watched him take aerial crane shots till lunch time. Declining to lunch with him, she roamed the whole area observing interestedly every aspect of the set and its building. At one point, she watched as a man carried the camera to a room, closing the door behind him.
Radha did not think much of it and returned to the place where Syed had promised to be waiting.
“Where does the camera go after the shooting?” Radha asked at the end of the interview.
“They go to the editing studio for processing with the software Premier Pro CC. Would you like a sneak-peek into those processes? Luckily, I am going there, too. Would you like to join me there?”
“Sure thing. I wouldn’t give up such an opportunity. I would like to apologize to you to you and your kindred. I was transferred only today from the crime desk and thought that I would only be chasing film stars and writing gossips about their private lives. Now that I am into this, I find that there is more to films than meets the eye.”
“You are right. Films are not just stars performing on screen. A lot of technical work goes into the making of every film. Things have become easier in the digital age.”
“The memory cards are all blank, Syed!” the video editor came out of the editing room with the disappointing news. “Nothing is there in them!”
