O Babul pyare… Today, I am going to offer a Tribute to my Dad, who expired on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
A Tribute to my Dad
The first thing that comes to my mind is that Dad (Thanthoni Rao) was a strict disciplinarian. He had made it clear early in our (my sister and my) lives that education is an important asset for us. Five degrees (B. Com., LLB, AICWA, ACS and MFM) and a Diploma (in Statistics) holder, he inspired me to do my M.Sc (Botany) and MA (English Literature) early in my life.
But Dad studied for AICWA, ACS and MFM after his marriage to Mom. Mom has been instrumental in his studies as well as ours.
Dad’s love for Bollywood songs is hereditary. He liked K L Saigal’s songs like Ek bangla bane nyara… from President (1937), Ek rajeka
beta lekar udhnewala ghoda… from President (1937), Soja Rajkumari… from Zindagi (1940), etc.
He has left a legacy for us , to take forward.
