The Amnesiac! (Part X)

I wrote this story, The Amnesiac! (Part X), in the 1990s for an educational course, I was taking then. Here’s the updated story.

The Amnesiac! (Part X)

Radha turned with relief to see a police officer enter the room with Vishweshwar and a group of constables.

“You, ok, Radha?” Keshav and Vishweshwar asked her together.

“I am good. How did you get here, Vishwa?”

“I heard an explosion and came out to check. All the lights were out in this mansion. I went to your room but you were not in. I figured that you must be here and got the police. It turned out that we were just in time.”

“If there were nothing here?” Keshav asked.

“But, Keshav, an explosion is an explosion.”

They all stood below an anti-radioactive shower to nullify the effects of radiation, if any. Before her turn came, Radha blurted, “Look at Sethi. He is the man, who directed his ire at the whole nation for what a few army officers did to him. And here is Vishwa, who decided to throw away his real name, get another identity and serve people. We need more people like Vishwa to strengthen our country by giving up their own identity!” With that Radha turned and marched off without realizing what she had just done.

“…I owe her my life,” Vishwa said concluding his story. “But I have told the owner of my company everything about my past. He was so impressed by my work that he disregarded my original identity.”

“If Radha thinks it is ok, it’s ok with me,” Keshav said, displaying implicit trust in her.
