I wrote this story, The Scam in Junior College, in 2013 and think this is the right time to post it on A Journalist Reveals. This is also one of the stories I wrote based on a real incident. Here’s the sixth part.

The Scam in Junior College (Part VI)

Gauri had told Radha that some past lecturers from the college had lost their voice due to raising their voices above the din in the class. The next day, Radha was taking a lecture in the naughtiest class of XI std. Commerce and she had punished some boys, who had played mischief in her class. The other sports teacher, Mr. Patil, called her out and in front of all the students outside said, “The principal has said you should not punish the students by sending them outside the class. You don’t know because you were not working here then.”

“Oh, he said that, did he? I will comply with his order, if he tells that to me personally.”

“If you punish them by sending them outside, it becomes a nuisance for those outside. Besides, it does not look good in front of the people living in the surrounding buildings.” The balcony was open towards the gate and could be seen from the residential buildings in the vicinity.

Asha was passing from there at that time. She came to Radha’s rescue, “Sir, isn’t Radha better equipped to deal with her class? Please let her do her job. Like she said if the principal has any objections with that he can talk to her. Do not create a problem for her in front of the students.”

Radha finally asked, “Now, can I go back to my lecture?”

“If you want the principal to say it then he will,” Mr. Patil actually stomped off in anger.

The principal never came!
